Club captain admits he’d enforce a transfer ban that prevents prolific United-linked frontman from leaving in January

The Stuttgart squad are seemingly having to come to terms with the fact that prolific frontman Serhou Guirassy could be packing his bags in the January window.

19 goals and two assists across 16 appearances in all competitions mark a scintillating, career-best run of form for the Guinean international, who made his Stuttgart move permanent in the summer from Rennes.

He’s already obliterated his tally from last season when he spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan with the Bundesliga outfit and registered 14 goals and two assists in total.

Alas, such form has seen Guirassy become one of the most sought-after strikers of the upcoming window, with Manchester United, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund all believed to be mulling over a potential pursuit of the 27-year-old.

Erik ten Hag is keen to ease the goalscoring burden on young Rasmus Hojlund; he finished the Champions League group-stage campaign tied as one of the joint-top goalscorers with five to his name, but the Dane is yet to get off the mark in the Premier League after 13 appearances.

Stuttgart skipper weighs in on prospect of Guirassy exit

Speaking on the prospect of Guirassy departing this winter, club captain Waldemar Anton was quizzed on whether he’d implement an internal transfer ban to ensure it can’t happen.

“Yes,” he told German outlet Stimme“Yes, yes. I think he [Guirassy] feels very, very comfortable here. That’s of course a huge point. If we play good games and score points, then he’s also very, very happy.

“The mood in the Stuttgart team is great. The goalscoring job at VfB is a lot of fun. He also knows very well that we will all be happy if he stays here. In the end, Serhou decides what happens.”
