‘I want us to…’: Moyes details West Ham’s game plan as they prepare to host out-of-form Man Utd

West Ham United host Manchester United at the London Stadium this Saturday in a 12.30pm Premier League kick-off.

The two sides currently sit side-by-side in the table; the Reds are seventh-placed on 28 points and West Ham are eighth on 27.

David Moyes is on the back of an Anfield thrashing in the Carabao Cup, ending the Irons journey at the quarter-final stage after being hammered 5-1 by Liverpool.

However, their form in the league has been mostly consistent, having won eight, drawn three and lost six. Given that they were major relegation candidates throughout last term, Moyes has received plaudits for the job he’s done to turn matters around.

The reigning Europa Conference League champions managed a narrow 1-0 victory on home turf against United in May, which made the Reds’ top-four battle significantly harder in the closing matches of the season. This time around, Moyes is keen for his team to do the same again.

Moyes’ pre-United message

He said ahead of Saturday’s festive fixture (via Manchester Evening News): “We’re off the back of a really good [Premier League] win over Wolves, so our form has been pretty good and we want to keep that up against Manchester United.

“I’ve always enjoyed playing against Manchester United. It was incredibly difficult to win against Sir Alex [Ferguson] teams. I want us to give them as good a game as we did against them at home last season.

“We’re fighting hard to stick around the position we’re in, we want to get European football for a fourth straight season. Our home form will be important to that and we want to get a result on Saturday.”
