Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to implement a new law at Man Utd that should’ve been enforced a long time ago

Manchester United will implement a stricter approach towards player contracts when Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25 per cent stake is ratified, as per Sky Sports.

It’s an element of the current United setup that has been heavily criticised by fans and pundits, as well as mocked by rival supporters.

Currently, the club’s list of highest-earners makes for some truly appalling viewing in comparison with other teams. While valuable players who have both played pivotal roles since signing, ageing duo Casemiro and Raphael Varane rake in an eye-watering £350,000 and £340,000 per week respectively, as per Spotrac.

Marcus Rashford, who has two goals to his name in all competitions this season, was awarded a lucrative new contract last summer, which now sees him take home £300,000 each week.

Exiled Red Jadon Sancho hasn’t kicked a ball for United since August 26 and even prior to that, his time at Old Trafford has left a lot to be desired when analysing his performances and output. £250,000.

Back in 2021, when United were looking to try and lure Cristiano Ronaldo back to M16 for a fairytale second stint, they are believed to have offered him around £515,385 a week to acquire his services. Given how notoriously sour it turned in the end, they must’ve been left red-faced when it came to paying him off.

Next on the agenda for Ratcliffe…

In truth, changes have been required for a number of years now and Ratcliffe seemingly has his head screwed on when it comes to business. Aside from the wages, overpaying for players is another factor that simply has to stop from next year; ‘United tax’ has been a thing for far too long now and clubs taking advantage of the silly prices the board are willing to pay has led to some pretty humiliating transfers when all’s said and done.
