United sent scouts to watch prolific 18-goal ace in action on Sunday – but so did two other Premier League clubs

Manchester United’s interest in Serhou Guirassy seemingly intensified over the weekend as they sent their scouts to watch the prolific frontman in action.

Stuttgart found themselves on the receiving end of a 3-0 defeat from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on Sunday but fortunately retained their fourth-placed spot following the loss, boasting a comfortable five-point lead over Borussia Dortmund in fifth.

Guirassy was unable to work his magic and etch his name onto the scoresheet, a feeling he’ll have grown so accustomed to for the German side this term having found the back of the net an impressive 18 times in just 15 matches (all competitions). In the league, his tally (16) is only bettered by Harry Kane (20), which comes as no surprise given the England skipper’s world-class finishing ability.

United’s links with Guirassy

United have been heavily linked with Guirassy in recent weeks, with all signs pointing towards a potential bid in January. Erik ten Hag is believed to want to ease the goalscoring burden on young Rasmus Hojlund –  who is yet to open his account in the Premier League – and add another striker to bolster his squad for the second half of the campaign.

The 27-year-old target has a staggeringly low release clause of £15 million, making it seem like a no-brainer for United to ignite their pursuit when analysing his output and what he could bring to the misfiring Reds.

Ten Hag and the board may have to fend off competition from the likes of West Ham United and Fulham though, as 90min reports that all three English clubs sent their scouts to the Stuttgart/Bayern clash.
