Christian Eriksen has returned to Manchester United training after a five-week spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
The midfielder sustained the problem during the Reds’ 1-0 win over Luton Town on November 11, being withdrawn early for Mason Mount prior to the interval at Old Trafford.
In the same game, Rasmus Hojlund picked up a hamstring injury, which led to the Danish duo being ruled out of Denmark’s final Euro 2024 qualifiers in the last international break of the year. Hojlund, however, returned to action shortly after the break.
After missing seven matches in all competitons for United, five in the Premier League and two in the Champions League, Eriksen has now been pictured at Carrington with the squad as he continues the final steps of his rehabilitation.
Scholes’ praise for Eriksen
During his layoff, Paul Scholes cherry-picked Eriksen as someone who United were sorely missing, along with the injured Casemiro. He told TNT Sports: “I think when Christian Eriksen and Casemiro return [from injury], that’ll make them a lot more relaxed. It’ll add a lot more experience and quality. I’m hoping when those two come back, things will improve for Ten Hag.”
Next-up for United is an away trip to face in-form West Ham United on Saturday before hosting the rampant, third-placed Aston Villa at home on Boxing Day.
