Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire have been ruled out of Manchester United’s trip to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

Martial missed the 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich during the week, while Harry Maguire started the game but had to be forced off before half-time with an injury. Luke Shaw was another to come off injured but he is fit and in contention to start against the Scousers on Sunday.

Victor Lindelof is back in training and could return to the line-up after missing last week’s defeat to Bournemouth too. Jonny Evans is another option to partner Raphael Varane.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford could start after missing the midweek loss to Bayern. That makes up for the blow United suffered last weekend when Bruno Fernandes picked up his fifth yellow card of the season. That booking regrettably rules him out of Sunday’s clash.

Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will battle it out for a starting right-back berth.

Predicted Manchester United XI vs Liverpool: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Lindelof, Shaw; Amrabat, Mainoo, McTominay; Rashford, Hojlund, Garnacho.

I think Ten Hag will need to pack the midfield and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Hannibal Mejbri named in the starting line-up. The youngster would give us much needed energy in the middle of the pitch.
