Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has been suffering with the Norovirus ahead of Sunday’s clash against Liverpool.
It’s not the news you want to be hearing ahead of such a big game, especially when we’ve had so much misfortune with key players getting injured this season.
Rashford missed the midweek defeat to Bayern Munich with what Erik ten Hag described as an ‘illness’.
Now, the Daily Mail understands that Rashford had a dose of the Norovirus – otherwise known as the winter vomiting bug. The symptoms include nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, a high temperature, headaches and aches.
The positive news is that Rashford was well enough to return to training with the first-team group on Friday and is expected to participate again today providing he slept through the night without any ill-effects.
Ten Hag was confident that Rashford would be available for Sunday’s trip when asked by reporters at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon.
The medics at the club are confident Rashford is not infectious, so this doesn’t mean the rest of the squad are bound to be hit with it.
