Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Alexis Mac Allister will be unavailable on Sunday as Liverpool prepare to host Manchester United at Anfield.

The two sides meet again this weekend to lock horns in one of world football’s fiercest rivalries, with both clubs navigating their own respective injury woes.

For the Old Trafford outfit, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were forced off on Wednesday evening with issues as Bayern Munich dealt the final hammer blow of their Champions League exit. They’re expected to join several of their teammates on the sidelines for the upcoming trip while the club awaits confirmation on their statuses.

In the opposing corner, Klopp will still be without Mac Allister following the knee injury he sustained against Sheffield United on December 6.

Liverpool have a shorter time to prepare for the fixture due to their final Europa League group-stage fixture taking place in Belgium tonight, however, they are already qualified for the last-16 and face no pressure to see out a convincing result in the dead-rubber.

The German manager has therefore opted to leave influential starters Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk out of the travelling squad to Brussels.
