Manchester United-linked forward Serhou Guirassy delivered an appreciative message to Stuttgart fans this week as he continues to be heavily tipped for a January exit.

The 27-year-old’s prolific form was on display yet again on Wednesday as Stuttgart sent Borussia Dortmund packing in the DFB Pokal with a 2-0 win; Guirassy netted the opener in the 54th minute of the last-16 tie before Silas sealed the victory just 23 minutes later.

Following the game, Guirassy made his way down the tunnel while addressing those in attendance for the pivotal triumph, saying (via Bild): “The atmosphere was great as always. Thank you for everything.”

With Erik ten Hag keen to ease the goalscoring burden on young Rasmus Hojlund, a new striker is being sought at Old Trafford as they look to oversee an improved second half of the campaign.

United have sounded out Guirassy deal

United are believed to have concrete interest in Guirassy and as per The Guardian, they have already made contact with his agents to discuss a potential deal. He is set to be available for a staggeringly low release clause of £15.1 million, which was included in his terms when he signed from Rennes in the summer; considering the impact he’s had since then, Stuttgart could come to regret agreeing to the fee.

The Guinea international boasts 18 goals and two assists in just 13 appearances thus far and even broke Bayern Munich legend Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga record of notching 11 goals in his first seven matches.
