McCoist labels one United player’s showing vs Chelsea ‘concerning’ as he extends unwanted record

Rasmus Hojlund is still seeking his maiden Premier League goal after 11 appearances in the top division.

The 20-year-old was acquired by Manchester United in the summer on a £72 million package deal from Atalanta, as Erik ten Hag cherry-picked him to fill the gaping striker void and lead the line at Old Trafford for the coming years.

Hojlund got off to a prolific start in the Champions League, netting five goals in as many appearances in the group stage. Unfortunately for him, his hard graft could ultimately end up in vain if the Reds exit the competition next week.

It’s the league that’s seemingly proving rather arduous for Hojlund to adapt to and he’ll know as much as the fans do that the longer his streak goes on, the more attention is brought to it and the more pressure is heaped on his shoulders.

Hojlund remains goalless in the league

The United faithful and Ten Hag continue to hold the utmost faith in the youngster but hopefully, he’s able to clinch that elusive contribution sooner rather than later.

When Hojlund blanked again during United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea, Ally McCoist weighed in on the matter on Amazon Prime Video commentary, saying: “A little bit concerning, probably more concerning as well, is that Manchester United have played really well and have a lot of the ball. But we haven’t really seen him have any chance of note.”
