Exclusive: Marcus Rashford has no regrets after signing new Manchester United deal

After a difficult start to the 2023/24 season, Marcus Rashford has faced heavy criticised for his form, but Fabrizio Romano has stressed that the player doesn’t regret signing a new contract at Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford has been unable to replicate his form of last season, which has led to strong criticism from fans and pundits alike.

Expectations were high for Rashford and the team this season, but it’s been an underwhelming start to the campaign and everyone is trying to pin holes in the biggest problem.

However, there is no denying Rashford has been poor, although I can’t help but feel the criticism is harsh for a player that could do no wrong last term.

For instance, Rashford has just two goals to his name from 18 appearances this season – and he was replaced at St. James’ Park after an hour on Saturday night.

We caught up with football journalist Fabrizio Romano to ask him for the latest on Rashford and whether he regrets signing his new contact back in July.

“No, no regrets. It’s just a moment, Rashford signed new deal as he trusts the club, the project, the manager,” Romano told Stretty News.

“We can’t switch from Rash being one of the best players in the world last season to ‘needs a change’ now… it’s football. Up and downs are part of the game, it’s the whole team having problems; not just Marcus. He’s working hard and Ten Hag is sure he will be back at top level.”

Rashford’s new deal runs until 2028 and is worth £325,000 a week, as per BBC Sport.

After watching United slip down to seventh in the Premier League table, I’m hoping that players like Rashford get whatever they need in the coming weeks to improve their game rather than letting us – the fans – down every week.

Rashford knows his form isn’t good enough… but only he can fix that.

  1. Of course he doesn’t he can splash more money on fancy cars while coasting in games who wouldn’t have any regrets and it’s about time he started earning it
