Anthony Martial has not completed a full 90 minutes in the Premier League for Manchester United in three years.

His second-half substitution on Saturday evening extended the concerning statistic to a new milestone, as he left the pitch during the Red Devils’ woeful 1-0 loss to Newcastle United away from home.

While the scoreline may be a narrow one, be assured that Erik ten Hag’s side were completely dominated from the first blow of the whistle. Martial, in particular, came under fire for his sheer lack of impact.

Martial likely to leave in June 2024

The Frenchman’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, with United currently holding the option of triggering a one-year extension – though as it stands, you’d struggle to find many factors in favour of doing so.

Earning an eye-watering £250,000 per week – as per Spotrac – it remains to be seen where the 27-year-old has performed to a high standard consistently enough to warrant such a high wage.
