Manchester United’s highly-rated youngster Kobbie Mainoo is reportedly set to be awarded a £10,000 pay rise as he continues to cement his place in the first-team.

The 18-year-old is the latest exhilarating prospect that Carrington has to offer after Alejandro Garnacho quickly became a fan-favourite following his transition from the academy to the senior squad.

Erik ten Hag had planned for Mainoo to play a key role for the Red Devils this term and supporters saw glimpses of what the midfielder could bring to the team in the pre-season tour, however, an unfortunate knee injury then halted all hopes of Mainoo featuring from the get-go in 2023/24.

It took until November 26 for the youngster to be deemed fit enough to make his first outing, having played a handful of matches with the Under-21s to ensure he had recovered fully and that there’d be no risk of further injury.

Mainoo made his first-ever Premier League start against Everton at Goodison Park, which was subsequently followed by his Champions League debut versus Galatasaray just three days later. In both matches, he received plaudits for looking like a player well beyond his years.

He started again last night as the Reds sustained a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, playing for 80 minutes to get some valuable experience under his belt.

As per the Daily Star, his increased involvement is now expected to see his weekly wage bumped from £10,000-a-week to £20,000; he has not penned a new deal but there is a clause included in his terms that would see the rise happen when he becomes a first-team regular.

If his development continues on the upward trajectory it’s on, there’s no doubt he’ll be earning the big bucks in a few years.
