Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to bring change to Manchester United, but his acquisition of a 25% stake has yet to be finalised.

The British billionaire has been in trying to buy a stake in his boyhood club since November 2022, which is when the Glazer family announced plans for a strategic review.

However, it sounds like we are getting close to an official announcement.

The Mirror claim Ratcliffe, owner of Ineos, hopes to assume control of football operations at Manchester United before Christmas.

The report doesn’t give any specific dates but the reporter in question, Darren Lewis, believes that Ratcliffe’s announcement is imminent.

Lewis also states that there could be a lifeline for Jadon Sancho, with sources of the belief that the 23-year-old could benefit from Sir Dave Brailsford’s psychology-based approach alongside therapist Steve Peters at Team Sky.

That said, Sancho has been banished from first-team duties since the end of August.

Hopefully Ratcliffe can get his foot in the door before the new year because Erik ten Hag will be making plans for the January transfer window.
