Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wasn’t happy with Anthony Martial’s lack of pressing during the first-half against Newcastle United.

The Frenchman started ahead of Rasmus Hojlund at St James’ Park, but he had an ineffective first half as the Magpies dominated the game.

Ten Hag was seen berating Martial from the touchline shortly before the interval when the forward failed to track Fabian Schar, allowing the defender to burst forward to launch another Newcastle attack.

Both Ten Hag and Martial were seen waving their arms at one another.

Even though Hojlund was asked to warm up at half-time, he didn’t replace Martial until the second half.

Newcastle took the lead through Anthony Gordon shortly after the break and deservedly lead 1-0.

United haven’t performed well but we’re somehow still in the game, though I fear the best we can hope for right now is a draw.
