Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo is the latest Carrington prospect to have supporters hanging off of his every touch.

The 18-year-old is on the back of two personal milestones, having made his first-ever Premier League start against Everton last Sunday and three days later, his Champions League debut against Galatasaray.

In both games, the midfielder received plaudits from both fans and pundits alike, with even the hard-to-impress Roy Keane claiming Mainoo’s showing at Goodison Park was ‘outstanding’.

Injuries to the likes of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Mason Mount have all but paved the way for Mainoo to cement his place in the senior squad and it’s an opportunity that he’s seemingly ready to grasp with both hands. Sunday provides another highly-anticipated Premier League outing for the youngster to make his mark when the Reds make the trip to face Newcastle United on Tyneside.

Ten Hag lauds Mainoo’s attribute

Quizzed on which elements of Mainoo’s game he’s been left most impressed by, the manager told the media (via ManUtd.com): “His scanning, it always looks like he has time. Because of his scanning, he is running free and the scanning to see the options and then make the right decisions. He can delay, he can speed up and he makes the right decisions.”
