Former England manager Terry Venables has died at the age of 70 and Gary Neville was among the first to pay his respects following the sad news.
The Venables family announced his death in a statement released via the League Manager’s Association, which read: “We are totally devastated by the loss of a wonderful husband and father who passed away peacefully yesterday after a long illness.
“We would ask that privacy be given at this incredibly sad time to allow us to mourn the loss of this lovely man who we were so lucky to have in our lives.”
Gary Neville paid tribute to Venables on X, formerly known as Twitter, and he thanked the man who gave him a chance to play for his country. He outlined three aspects of Venable’s coaching that stuck with him forever in a heart-warming post:
