Even as editor of Stretty News, I was completely unaware of Nuraly Alip or the fact he was being linked with a move to Manchester United.

But that didn’t stop the player’s agency, Player Career Management, from ensuring that they spoke about Manchester United’s apparent interest, even though they’ve not been in contact with the club.

Is this doesn’t sound like an attempt to list your client in the transfer market, I don’t know what is.

“Nobody contacted the agency – the rest is on the conscience of the authors. The player belongs to Zenit and is currently focused on helping the club win the championship,” a representative of Player Career Management told Sport Express. “The player belongs to Zenit and is currently focused on helping the club win the championship.”

Alip joined Zenit St. Petersburg on a loan deal in 2022 and his stay there was made permanent at the start of the year. He has made 19 appearances this season and has apparently be subject to Manchester United interest.

Kazakhstan based publication EL.kz claim United are considering a move for the 23-year-old after sending a scout to watch him in action for his country against Slovenia.

Sport Express believe a deal could be done for as little as €2 million, with Alip under contract at Zenit until 2025.

Alip is the latest defender to be linked with a move to Old Trafford in 2024.
