Manchester United are among four Premier League clubs eyeing up a deal for St Patrick’s Athletic starlet Sam Curtis, as per 90min

The 17-year-old has become a stalwart at the back for the Dublin outfit across 2023, making 39 appearances despite his young age.

He was crucial to their FAI Cup triumph which saw St Pat’s overturn Bohemians 3-1 on November 12, with Curtis playing the full 90 in the final.

Curtis is an under-23 Republic of Ireland international but given the role he’s proven he can play in a senior setup, there’s no doubt he’ll be granted a call-up soon.

Reds eyeing January swoop

United’s interest comes amid their reported hunt for a new defender as they look to manage this season’s debilitating injury crisis. Their backline has been plagued with fitness issues thus far, with each of Luke Shaw, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Tyrell Malacia and Victor Lindelof missing at least one game.

Therefore, turning to a young prospect like Curtis, who is up for the PFA’s Ireland Men’s Young Player of the Year, could add much-needed depth in defence for the next decade.

The Red Devils will have to fend off interest from rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur if they do ignite their pursuit, with Curtis expected to leave St Pat’s in the winter window as it comes during the League of Ireland’s off-season.
