Erik ten Hag has commented on Luke Shaw’s fitness and he’s hopeful the left-back will return to the squad for Sunday’s trip to Everton.

Manchester United have been without their star left-back since August after suffering a muscular injury. As a result, Shaw has only been able to make two appearances for the Reds this season, but fans received a boost this week when he was spotted back training with the first-team.

Shaw’s absence this season had led to struggles at left-back. It prompted the loan signing of Sergio Reguilon, who has had injury problems of his own, and we’ve also had stand-in options like Victor Lindelof, Sofyan Amrabat and Diogo Dalot.

It shouldn’t go under the radar that Shaw was one of Ten Hag’s most important players last season. His return couldn’t come at a better time ahead of the busy festive period.

“Luke Shaw has been training for two weeks with the team,” Ten Hag said, as per The Sun. “We are quite hopeful that he will return to the squad for Sunday’s game.”

Ten Hag will hold a press conference tomorrow when he is expected to give a further update on his team before the trip to Goodison Park.

Everton go into the game after being docked 10-points by the Premier League.
