Manchester United legend ‘sad’ to see player set to leave after underwhelming Old Trafford career

Manchester United legend Louis Saha has encouraged Erik ten Hag to put an end to his ongoing feud with Jadon Sancho.

The 23-year-old looks nailed on to leave Old Trafford when the January window opens, with Juventus and his former club Borussia Dortmund mooted as potential exit routes.

When he departs, it’ll have gone four months since he stepped foot on the pitch for United; his last outing came in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on August 26 when he made a 30-minute cameo off the bench.

A week later, Sancho was omitted from the matchday squad to face Arsenal due to his performances in training not being up to scratch, Erik ten Hag told the press. The player then took to social media to rebuff the claims, implying that his manager was a liar and that he had been scapegoated.

Since then, the £73 million man has been exiled from all first-team action and facilities after refusing to apologise for his statement. All signs now point to the exit for Sancho.

Saha talks Sancho saga

Saha weighed in on the matter, which has been widely covered and dramatised by the media, and explained why he believes it is best for all parties if Sancho leaves in the New Year.

He said, via Manchester Evening News: “The Jadon Sancho situation is horrible for everybody. As a Manchester United fan, you want to see the best players and most talented players on the pitch and Sancho is definitely one of those players that can disrupt the opposition.

“But, since he signed, he hasn’t performed regularly, and it’s been going on for months now so it’s time to find the solution for everybody. We want to see him go somewhere he’s playing, scoring and enjoying his football, wherever it is he wants to go. I’m sad because I really like him when he’s in form, but it hasn’t happened for him at United.

”Even if Erik ten Hag considered bringing him back into the team, I doubt it would work because if he starts playing well, people will say Ten Hag should have brought him in earlier. But if he doesn’t play well, then people will say he shouldn’t have brought him back. It’s a very difficult situation to manage and it’s bad for the club because it’s an off-field situation that’s affected things on the pitch.”
