Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to take charge of football operations at Manchester United once his minority stake is ratified by the Premier League. Erik ten Hag could have a chance at landing any of OGC Nice stars he desires.
Former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre believes Ratcliffe will already be mulling over signing Nice duo Khephren Thuram and Kean-Clair Todibo at United. The Reds will be scanning for the best in class in the transfer market, and that will include a pool of prospects.
Ratcliffe looks set to acquire 25% stake in United once his investment is approved by the Premier League. The British billionaire will work with Joel Glazer, but he is expected to take control of sporting operations which he will hand over to his experts at Ineos.
His responsibilities include overseeing United’s transfer strategy and Ten Hag might be inclined to ask for players that currently play for his Ligue 1 outfit Nice. United have been heavily linked with Todibo in the past, while Thuram is another name on the club’s radar at least.
“Thuram and Todibo definitely have the level to play for Man United,” Silvestre told bettingexpert.com, as cited by the Manchester Evening News. “And I’m sure they’re on the radar and they will be scrutinised.
“They will probably be put forward because it will be an easy and sensible transition and will make sense for INEOS to get the best scouting reports on these two players specifically. They’re quality players. Both are French internationals.
“Todibo is having a very good season. Thuram, a little bit less this season compared to last but still a quality midfielder.”
Central midfield and central defence are definitely two areas of the team that Ten Hag should be looking to improve next summer, not to forget that the squad needs more strikers to carry some of the burden on Rasmus Hojlund’s shoulders.
