Gary Neville would take Liverpool man at Manchester United tomorrow

Gary Neville has named Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as the one man he’d ‘bring to Manchester United tomorrow’ if he could.

The 48-year-old was renowned for hating the Scousers throughout his career, but he has mellowed in his approach down the years since becoming a pundit for Sky Sports and getting friendly with former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher.

However, Neville admits he is in awe of Liverpool manager Klopp for the job the German has done at Anfield since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in 2015.

Speaking on The Daily Ketchup Podcast, Neville was asked to name who he feels is the best coach in the world right now.

Neville said: “I’d say Jurgen Klopp. Jurgen Klopp works with a budget which is far less than Pep Guardiola. Pep Guardiola’s a genius, and he’ll be the one who’s remembered forever more. But Jurgen Klopp, for me, is an amazing manager.

“If you said to me which manager could I bring to Manchester United tomorrow, it would be Jurgen Klopp.”

Neville raises a valid point about Guardiola because he’s had an endless bottom pit of money since taking the City job. Hundreds of millions spent on each position and bad signings quickly dismissed. It’s the sort of backing Erik ten Hag can only dream of.

However, like Klopp, Ten Hag must make do with what he has available to him and find a way to compete on a budget.

Klopp brought back the league title to Anfield and they’ve won the Champions League under his guidance.

If there was one man from Liverpool that I’d take, it would be Michael Edwards, although he’s no longer working at the club.
