With Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag trying to assemble the best defence from week-to-week, not helped by the curse of injuries that continues to make life harder for him, it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Reds are being linked with defensive reinforcements.

United aren’t scoring enough goals and we’re conceding too many. Our results tell you that.

The underwhelming form of several key players doesn’t help, so doubts are beginning to grow around experienced former Real Madrid duo Casemiro and Raphael Varane.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is our best option at right back because he’s a significant upgrade on Diogo Dalot, however, I think it would be naïve to suggest Ten Hag wouldn’t want a better option at full-back. United lack an elite right-back and that has been the case for a long time.

Meanwhile, Dalot may have earned a new contract last year, but his lapses in concentrate have continued to cost the team defensively.

One right-back being linked with a move to Old Trafford is Galatasaray sensation Sacha Boey. The Frenchman impressed when the two teams met in the Champions League.

The 23-year-old has a contract with the Turkish giants until 2025, but reports suggest he has started pushing back on new terms.

According to Turkish outlet Aksam, Boey wants to move to the Premier League and there are more clubs interested in his signature than United. They include Arsenal, Brighton and others.

The report adds that Boey’s future is dependant on Galatasaray’s Champions League campaign, with the Turkish side pushing to qualify for the knockout stages at United’s expense.

United need to beat Galatasaray in Istanbul and get a result against Bayern Munich at Old Trafford.
