Bruno Fernandes lauded by Portuguese press after 7/10 performance in Euro 2024 qualifier

Bruno Fernandes has been lauded by the Portuguese press after his performance in Portugal’s 2-0 win over Iceland on Sunday night.

The Manchester United midfielder shone for Portugal as they went unbeaten throughout their qualifying campaign.

Fernandes was in fine form for his country and got on the scoresheet for Roberto Martinez’s men.

The goal came from a layoff by Man City star Bernardo Silva before Fernandes took a touch and fired his shot into the bottom corner.

Fernandes earned a 7/10 rating for his performance from Portuguese outlet A Bola.

The newspaper went on to hail the United star’s impact on the national team.

“When it comes to choosing the big figure of the qualification, the commander-in-chief, the spotlight turns to Bruno Fernandes: king of assists among all groups and six goals, one of them against Iceland in another great performance.”

Throughout the qualifying campaign for Portugal, Fernandes scored six goals and registered eight assists.

United fans will be pleased to see their captain performing again, although it means nothing to us unless he starts doing it regularly in a red shirt. There are multiple reasons behind why that has not happened this season but Fernandes can turn things around.
