Fabrizio Romano doesn’t read too much into Manchester United links with defender

Manchester United get linked with an array of players every year. Some the club don’t even hold any interest in.

It’s no secret that the Erik ten Hag will be planning to sign a centre-back in the new year and with that United are being linked with a number of defenders.

With Raphael Varane losing form and perhaps interest, Lisandro Martinez recovering from injury and Harry Maguire at the heart of defence, it’s no wonder that we need reinforcements.

One name being linked with United is Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah.

However, respected transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water over the claims because he has advised readers not to read too much into his links with United at the moment, via CaughtOffside.

Romano stresses that a lot will change at United with a new sporting director. He adds: “I’m not hearing anything about Tah as of now, even if United remain likely to target a centre-back as a priority for 2024.”

You have to take some of these reports with a pinch of salt and nothing more.
