As a Manchester United fan, there are fewer sights greater than seeing Sir Alex Ferguson with a smile on his face after the unprecedented joy he brought to the Old Trafford faithful.
The sentiment rings even truer now following a heartbreakingly difficult time for the boss, in which he lost his wife, Lady Cathy Ferguson, and close friend, Sir Bobby Charlton over the past two months.
Prior to the international break, Sir Alex attended Old Trafford for the first time since August 26th to watch the Reds see out a much-needed 1-0 win over Luton Town.
As if his footballing successes aren’t enough, he frequently receives plaudits when it comes to horse racing, having owned and bred numerous iconic winners in the past.
Today, it was Richard Fahey-trained Spirit Dancer that pipped the favourites to reign victorious in the $1 million Bahrain International Trophy – and Sir Alex was leading the celebrations when the six-year-old crossed the finish line!
