Jean-Claude Blanc looks set to become Manchester United’s new chief executive.
First, we are all waiting on the announcement that will see Sir Jim Ratcliffe confirmed as a minority stakeholder, owning 25% of the club. The British billionaire is expected to bring in his own people to run the football side of things.
That’s why Richard Arnold has been sent his marching orders and John Murtough, football director by status, is set to follow suit.
Sky Sports reporter Kavah Solhekol has been talking to contacts about Blanc and he claims that a lot of people in the industry speak highly of him. That would make a chance from Arnold, who nobody knew about before his spell at United started 16-years ago.
“A lot of people in the sports business industry speak highly of him,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports News.
Nice CEO Fabrice Boquet recently went on record to speak highly of Blanc, too.
“He is a bit like the Lionel Messi of sports business,” Boquet told L’Equipe.
“It is not only a question of expertise but of interpersonal skills. He brings his vision, his network, his calm, his experience.”
