Sir Jim Ratcliffe faces 6-8 week wait to begin work at Manchester United

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will need to be patient before he gets to start work at Manchester United.

According to The Telegraph (cited by The Sun), the British billionaire may need to wait ‘six to eight weeks’ before he can roll up his sleeves and make positive changes at the football club.

The deal, which will see him secure 25% in United, is close to being completed but it will then require ratification from the Premier League.

That process could take up to six to eight weeks – but fans can’t be blamed for becoming impatient after 18 years of the Glazers, and it’s not like they will be leaving anytime soon.

It is also reported that Ratcliffe won’t be able to pump any money into the club until the deal has been approved by the Premier League.

The Premier League has previously allowed state-ownership to become part of the best league in the world, which has in turn opened itself up to sportswashing. For that reason I can’t see Ratcliffe or Ineos having any problems getting a deal across the line.

Eight weeks seems a bit excessive, though. Especially when he’s got so much work to do to improve so many issues at the club.
