Roberto Martinez announced his Portugal squad for their final two Euro 2024 qualifiers today.
There was no real surprise as far as we are concerned since both of Manchester United’s Portuguese stars were called up to the squad.
Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot have been starters in the national team for some time, and the former is unsurprisingly renowned as one of Portugal’s key players.
Portugal are trying to complete a perfect qualifying campaign with two more victories next week. The Seleçao have eight wins in as many games so far in Group J, scoring an outstanding 30 goals and conceding just two.
Martinez’s side has already assured top spot in the group and they are expected to beat Liechtenstein and Iceland to close their qualifying campaign on the right note.
Portugal squad for qualifiers vs Liechtenstein & Iceland
Goalkeepers: Diogo Costa, José Sá, Rui Patrício
Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Nélson Semedo, João Cancelo, Rúben Dias, António Silva, Gonçalo Inácio, Pepe, Toti Gomes
Midfielders: João Palhinha, Rúben Neves, João Neves, Bruno Fernandes, Otávio Monteiro, Vitinha, Matheus Nunes, Bernardo Silva
Forwards: Ricardo Horta, Bruma, Rafael Leão, João Félix, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonçalo Ramos, Diogo Jota
The only concern we have about players going on international duty is that they will come back injured. That is the last thing Erik ten Hag needs ahead of the busy Christmas period.
