Newcastle United are set to be without defensive stalwart Dan Burn when Manchester United visit St. James’ Park on December 2.

The Red Devils will be hoping to see out a significantly better performance than the last time they faced the Magpies; last Wednesday, United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup in humiliating fashion to the visitors’ B team.

United’s first chance at redemption comes following the international break when they’ll make the trip to Tyneside for a Premier League clash, and it looks as though Burn will be absent from the squad due to an injury.

Eddie Howe confirmed on Monday that the 31-year-old has damaged the base of his spine, as per Craig Hope, and now faces a spell on the sidelines which could last for a couple of months.

Erik ten Hag has had plenty of injury woes to navigate himself, with Marcus Rashford and Casemiro the latest additions to the list.
