Erik ten Hag’s first season at Manchester United exceeded all expectations as he ended the club’s six-year wait for silverware by winning the Carabao Cup.

Additionally, the Dutchman secured a return to the Champions League with relative ease and it was expected that the side would kick on this year.

Unfortunately, that has not happened quite yet and United are still finding their feet this season but have improved their results in recent weeks.

Despite a patchy start to the season, Ten Hag has still started his Old Trafford career brilliantly and certainly better than any of his predecessors in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Ten Hag’s most recent win was a special one – a 91st-minute winner away at Fulham, with Bruno Fernandes’ sublime late strike securing all three points.

Fernandes enjoyed a special milestone that day as he scored the winner on his 200th appearance and he was not alone in reaching a notable landmark.

Ten Hag has faced heavy criticism at the start of this season but following the win at Fulham, he has now become the joint-fastest manager to reach 50 wins for the club, as per the club’s official website.

Ten Hag has reached the milestone in just 79 appearances and thus equals a record that has stood for a remarkable 118 years.

Ernest Mangnall guided United to their first league title in 1908 and he also won 50 of his first 79 games in charge. Mangnall was in charge of United for nine years before eventually joining the cross-city rivals.

Ten Hag will be hoping to add to his wonderful record next week as United face Copenhagen in the Champions League, with only three points sufficing.
