Scott McTominay has said that the Manchester United players used a fan-made banner in the away end as extra motivation to see out a win against Fulham.
After a tightly-contested clash at Craven Cottage, it was Bruno Fernandes’ injury-time heroics that clinched all three points for the Red Devils this afternoon.
The win comes after two consecutive 3-0 defeats for United, so reigning victorious today was imperative for the team as they look to bounce back and ignite a positive run of form.
Prior to kick-off, supporters in the away end were spotted holding up a flag that read: “Play like you mean it!” in a bid to rally the Reds ahead of such a must-win clash.

McTominay reacts to fans’ banner
McTominay admitted following the full-time whistle that it did exactly that, and it fuelled the squad to perform in front of their travelling followers.
“We saw it,” the Scotsman told TNT Sports. “We saw the banner before the game and a few of us said do you know what, the fans pay good money to come and watch us every week and the support is relentless towards us every single week, and we just want to repay them as best we can.
“Things aren’t going the best at the moment but it’s a building block – a step-by-step. With the manager and the coaching staff, we trust them a lot, we trust the players, and I think we can go on, kick on and do better.”
