(Video) Ten Hag confirms that Rashford would’ve started Fulham clash regardless of ‘unacceptable’ clubbing incident

Erik ten Hag has further clarified Marcus Rashford’s absence ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League clash vs Fulham.

The forward has been omitted from the Red Devils’ matchday squad due to a knock he sustained to his leg in training, so Alejandro Garnacho has taken his place on the left flank.

It comes after the manager branded Rashford’s post-Manchester derby behaviour, in which he went out clubbing to celebrate a birthday, as ‘unacceptable’. However, the matter was quickly resolved and put to bed after the England international apologised.

In terms of the match, anything less than three points today would only add to the pressure mounting on Ten Hag’s shoulders.

Ten Hag’s pre-match comments

Speaking to TNT Sports pre-match he said: “He [Rashford] travelled with us but he didn’t make it [the squad]. We tested him this morning but he was not good enough. He’s not fit.

“Yes [if he was fit he would’ve started]. I think we have to close that case [the clubbing incident]. I have said everything about it.“

Regarding how United ‘put things right’ in the match, he added: “We have to prove that. It starts with team spirit, bringing it on the pitch from the first whistle and then make it our game. Put the principles in the game, do the hard work and do it together and then we have to find a way to win.”
