Raphael Varane is reportedly mulling over his Manchester United future after receiving lucrative proposals from Saudi Arabian clubs.
As per Football Transfers, the centre-back rebuffed interest from Al-Ittihad last summer in a bid to continue his career in Europe for the 2023/24 campaign, while Casemiro was also approached by Al-Nassr before United stepped in to put an end to their pursuit.
Now, following the Red Devils’ dismal start to the term, Varane has seemingly had a change of heart and is prepared to reunite with his former United and Real Madrid teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo, having been contacted by Al-Nassr.
While the four-time Champions League winner is undoubtedly one of Erik ten Hag’s most experienced and dependable options in the backline, his fitness issues have proven to be an ongoing concern ever since he made the move to Manchester in 2021; this season, he has featured for a mere 570 minutes in all competitions.
How Varane’s exit could pan out
Varane, 30, is contracted to Old Trafford until 2025, meaning the Saudi outfit must propose a bid that United deem acceptable if they want to acquire his signature next year.
For United, cashing in on the Frenchman and signing a younger, more reliable alternative could prove to be the best outcome in the scenario.
Let him and Casemiro go to Saudi. Cash in and buy younger, more hungry stock!
Yeah that would be ideal. Fire those 2 off (and a couple of others), promote Mainoo and buy a replacement for Varane. Tidy!
