(Video) ‘I’m a fighter’: Ten Hag says he is capable of United challenge and managerial record proves that

Erik ten Hag has vowed to turn things around at Manchester United following their Carabao Cup exit this evening.

The Red Devils sustained a 3-0 loss to Newcastle United on home turf, marking a second consecutive defeat by a three-goal margin for the first time since 1962.

It’s also the first time that United have lost eight of their first 15 games in all competitions since the 1962/63 season, as well as losing five of their first 10 home fixtures for the first time since 1930/31 – so it’s safe to say that the pressure is mounting heavily on Ten Hag.

He has accepted full blame for United’s form, though numerous players need to be taking a look at themselves in the coming days and reflecting on their performances.

Ten Hag’s vow to the fans

In tonight’s post-match press conference, the manager said: “I’m a fighter and I know it’s not always going up. We’ve had a lot of setbacks this season so far but you have to deal with it and that’s never an excuse – I’ve said that before. I know when there are setbacks then the routines and the ways of play are not similar, not the same. But even then, you have to get the results in. Obviously Sunday [and] tonight was far from that [the right results] so we have to do things right at the minimum level to win games.

“I understand that when the results are not there then there is a logical process that they are questioning, but I’m confident and I can do it. With all my clubs, I have done it, and also last year, I did it here as well. But in this moment, we are in a bad place and as I say, I take responsibility for it, I see it as a challenge, I’m a fighter, I’m in the fight and I have to make sure I share the responsibility with my players – that we stick together [and] fight together and get better results in.”

  1. The problem is not in any where……they should go and look for degea and pay homepage, seek for his forgiveness and that is all……degea was treated badly in the way he leaves the club! He is a legend he needed to be treated as such,he deserved a recognized party before leaving the club!so they should go and look for him and make peace with him……once his mind is calmed even Onana will start to shine in every game! Thank you.

  2. All very well, ETH, might we know when it’s going to start getting good?
We’ve had years and years of ‘we go again’ and ‘ vows to put things right’ and that stuff doesn’t cut it any more.
All this ‘ I can sort it’ ‘ I’m a great Manager’ is like the Captain of the Titanic prattling on about previous ships he’s been on: kinda irrelevant to the current CRISIS.
