Chelsea defender emerges as Manchester United target

Manchester United need to strengthen at the back and one defender being linked with a move to Old Trafford is Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah.

According to TEAMtalk, Chalobah has been listed as a target at Manchester United, but the defender is also attracting interest from Bundesliga duo Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The report in question seems to hint at United being a preferred destination – as things stand – because Chalobah would ‘prefer’ to stay in the Premier League if he leaves Stamford Bridge.

United have big problems in defence this season but most of them are down to injuries and Erik ten Hag having to cope with a depleted back four.

Chalobah, 24, was close to leaving Chelsea in the summer and it has been suggested that Mauricio Pochettino does not see a future for him at the club.

I think Bayern Munich are ones to watch because it was Thomas Tuchel who gave Chalobah his debut at Chelsea, whereas Borussia Dortmund can guarantee him a starting place in the team.

Of course, Chalobah is one of many centre-backs linked with United right now and we suspect more players will be added to that list between now and January.
