Gary Neville believes Pep Guardiola was rubbing salt in United’s wounds with post-match dig at ownership

Gary Neville believes that Pep Guardiola was rubbing salt in Manchester United’s wounds with a dig at the club’s ownership after their 3-0 Manchester derby loss.

The Red Devils again displayed a lacklustre and soulless display against their neighbours at Old Trafford, failing to even register one goal in response to City’s three.

Post-match, Guardiola reacted to the victory by saying: “We are in the same direction, me, the CEO, the sporting directors, the chairman. That is why I think the club is so stable.”

Many United fans, including Neville, have taken this as the Spaniard highlighting the complete contrast to how the Old Trafford outfit is run in comparison to City.

United & City – how they differ

As we’re all well aware, the Blues are on the back of winning the treble, as well as their third Premier League title in a row, though it is worth noting that they are still facing 115 financial rule break charges that came over a nine-year period. The result, if they’re found guilty, could see them dealt a points deduction or expelled from the top division.

Meanwhile, United supporters have recently been hit with the confirmation that the Glazer family will be staying in charge for the foreseeable future. During their tumultuous time as owners, Old Trafford has continued to deteriorate, debt has increased and the club are falling down the same downward spiral under Ten Hag as they have every other manager post-Sir Alex Ferguson.
