Evans starts, no Casemiro & Varane benched: Confirmed Manchester United line-up to face City at Old Trafford

Manchester United are undergoing their final preparations for today’s 3.30pm kick-off in the Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

They head into the game on the back of three successive wins in all competitions while Manchester City have reigned victorious in their previous two matches, but suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal prior to the international break.

Erik ten Hag has named his starting line-up for the highly-anticipated clash in M16 and it’s now confirmed that Casemiro has not been deemed fit enough to feature after the manager said he would undergo a late test.

He was suspended for the midweek European match against Copenhagen, though he was seemingly still injured from the ankle knock he sustained while playing for Brazil.

In his place is Sofyan Amrabat, partnered by Scott McTominay. Mason Mount has again been named on the bench and Christian Eriksen has been given the nod.

Two more Reds ruled out

Harry Maguire retains his place for a fourth consecutive start, which comes as no surprise after his contribution to see United clinch all three points in the Champions League on Tuesday. Surprisingly, he is alongside Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane has dropped to the bench – perhaps due to a fitness concern.

Sergio Reguilon has also been replaced by Victor Lindelof, who will be taking another stint at left-back.

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford will be occupying each flank.

Rasmus Hojlund leads the line as he seeks his maiden Premier League goal, and there’s no better time for it to come than today.
