It sounds like football clubs around Europe are watching to see if Hannibal Mejbri makes it at Manchester United.

The Tunisia international has made five appearances this season, starting twice and accumulating 322 minutes, and he scored his first goal for the club in a 3-1 defeat to Brighton.

Hannibal is unlikely to have his heard turned due to Erik ten Hag’s commitment to giving him game time, but the youngster will have no shortage of options if that doesn’t go to plan.

In a new column for CaughtOffside, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed that Sevilla were monitoring the young midfielder.

“United have an option to extend until June 2025 so there’s no alert, but as I mentioned in September the club is planning to offer him a new long term deal to be discussed soon. Sevilla have been monitoring him since July but United are very happy with him.”

United have an option to add a further year to Hannibal’s current deal, and there’s already been suggestions in the media that they will activate that clause.

Furthermore, Romano adds that Hannibal could be set for a new long-term contract at Old Trafford. He has shown lots of promise this season, so we already know there’s potential for him to be a top player in the future.

Hannibal will be in contention to feature against Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
