Manchester United defender returns to individual training for the first time this season

Tyrell Malacia is yet to feature for Manchester United in the 2023/2024 campaign, but his first appearance appears to be on the horizon.

The defender’s last outing for the Red Devils came on the final day of the 22/23 Premier League season against Fulham, with United seeing out a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

Malacia was then ruled out of the entire pre-season tour of the United States in the summer, as well as the side’s friendlies.

Manchester Evening News states that the Dutch international sustained a knee injury at some point last term and United attempted to manage it with pain injections, however, surgery was eventually required to correct the problem.

He was soon joined on the sidelines by Luke Shaw, who picked up a muscle issue against Tottenham Hotspur in August. Both left-backs’ absences forced United into signing Sergio Reguilon on loan in the summer, though he has also missed a string of games due to injury recently.

Malacia returns to training

Today, Malacia was pictured at Carrington taking part in an individual training session away from his teammates.

Erik ten Hag will be relieved to have him back in the fold when he returns.
