Erik ten Hag has hinted at a potential shuffle in his line-up that could see both Anthony Martial and Rasmus Hojlund deployed up front.

The pair are yet to feature together from the start for Manchester United this term but have briefly shared the stage in the closing stages of games.

Hojlund is undoubtedly Ten Hag’s first choice in the position – you wouldn’t spend up to £72 million on a forward and that not be the case. Since making his club debut on September 3, he has been named in the starting line-up for the five subsequent Premier League games, as well as both Champions League clashes. He has three goals in the competition thus far.

On the other hand, Martial has only started the Carabao Cup tie vs Crystal Palace – which he scored in – in the time that Hojlund has been available.

Ten Hag on frontline selection

United take on Copenhagen on Tuesday evening in search of their first three points in Europe, and it’s no secret that goals have been incredibly hard to come by across the attackers. With the game looking like a must-win outing, Ten Hag may opt to utilise both No.9s from the beginning.

In today’s press conference he touched on the matter, saying (via Manchester Evening News): “They can play together because Anthony Martial is also available to play from the side.”
