Manchester United invite fans to pay respects to Sir Bobby Charlton online and at Old Trafford

Manchester United have invited supporters to pay their respects to Sir Bobby Charlton both at Old Trafford and online.

The footballing world was hit with the devastating news of Charlton’s passing on Saturday afternoon and tributes poured in from countless players and athletes for the former Manchester United and England legend.

Sir Bobby will forever be remembered as one of the most iconic, pivotal and influential figures to ever step on the pitch. Throughout his illustrious playing career, he lifted three Division One titles, an FA Cup, a European Cup and the 1966 World Cup, in which he helped the Three Lions on their way to unprecedented glory. That same year, he was awarded the Ballon d’Or.

United open condolence book for Sir Bobby

United issued a message to supporters today detailing how they can pay tribute to Charlton.

A book of condolence has been set up at Old Trafford in the International Suite, where fans are able to pen a message in person over the coming week. Those who wish to do so can access the suite from 10am until 10pm today and on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

As the team plays a Champions League game on Tuesday evening, there will be further clarification on how to sign the book on matchday.

Fans are also welcome to pay tribute and bring flowers to the Trinity statue on the Old Trafford forecourt.
