The Manchester United family is mourning the death of club great Sir Bobby Charlton.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Erik ten Hag’s players will wear black armbands against Sheffield United tonight to pay their respects to Sir Bobby Charlton.
The pre-planned minute’s silence at Bramall Lane will show respect to Charlton, who passed away this evening at the age of 86, as well as the atrocities in the Middle East.
A wreath has been laid at the Trinity Statue and fans are beginning to lay their own floral tributes at the stadium.
Furthermore, a book of condolences will be open to fans from 10am on Sunday in the International Suite at Old Trafford.
Charlton is one of the greatest Manchester United icons of all-time, and he will forever be remembered as such. He made 758 appearances for the club and was part of Sir Matt Busby’s side that won the European Cup in 1968, 10-years after the Munich Air Disaster.
This news has shocked everyone in the Manchester United family and we can only send our condolences to Charlton’s family and friends. As fans we live on to tell the tale, passing on Charlton’s fascinating stories to future generations.
