Erik ten Hag expects returning international United players to continue top form in club action

Erik ten Hag kept tabs on how his Manchester United players fared over the international break and hopes that they will be able to continue their top form.

The manager was asked about Marcus Rashford’s recent performances in his pre-match press conference yesterday, with the forward netting a crucial goal for England that helped them on their way to securing a Euro 2024 spot. At club level, he has just one goal this term.

Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes oversaw a prolific two games for Portugal, tallying three assists and one goal across the matches, and Rasmus Hojlund netted his seventh Euro qualifying goal for Denmark.

After a substandard and shaky start to the campaign, United must kick on now and ignite a winning run with the coming fixtures. The only way this will be possible is if the Reds are all performing to the best of their abilities as so far, it’s safe to say we haven’t seen them at their best.

Ten Hag on players’ form

Speaking via MUTV on his returning members of the squad, including Rashford, he said: “I think it’s very positive he scored for England and I think [for] England [it] was a very good performance. I really enjoyed that game, but also I enjoyed the players who were involved from us and you see the qualities and I’m sure, yeah, the form was [in] the last games maybe not that good, but I’m sure I will back them.

“I trust them, I believe in them and I’m sure they will be back in very good shape and it will be [a] very [big] benefit to our game and to our results. And that will not take long.”
