Rasmus Hojlund backs Marcus Rashford to get back to his best form, despite his Manchester United team-mate struggle for form this season.

I think people should be wary of writing of Rashford – and many seem willing to…

You can’t dismiss the fact the 25-year-old scored 30 goals for United last season. That shouldn’t be forgotten so quickly.

However, Rashford has scored just one goal so far this season. That’s a downturn in form and something Erik ten Hag will hope can be addressed before Christmas.

Hojlund, who is away on international duty with Denmark, has leapt to Rashford’s defence after being asked about his team-mate’s struggles.

“I really like playing with him. He is a world class soccer player. I enjoy playing with a player like him,” Hojlund told Danish newspaper Tipsbladet.

“He’s a player I’ve looked up to, even though he’s only a few years older than me. He has done well since he came in as a 19-year-old and scored against Midtjylland. I think he has been a great player ever since, and it is of course great that we are team-mates today.”

People also need to understand that it will take time for Hojlund not only to settle, but to form a partnership with the other attacking players in the team. The same applies for Antony, who has hardly played with our new signing.

Hojlund is showing great promise and I honestly think it’s only a matter of time before he and Rashford start banging in the goals for United.

The 20-year-old Danish striker has three goals to his name since joining United, but he has yet to score in the Premier League.
