Members of Manchester United staff are reconsidering their positions following the club’s handling of Mason Greenwood and Antony’s cases, as per Mail Sport.
Staff have begun the process of seeking new employment in a bid to part ways with United after ‘growing disillusioned’ over the past year’s affairs.
Greenwood, 22, was sent on loan to Getafe on deadline day in the summer after United announced he would restart his career away from Old Trafford. It came after he had charges of attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour dropped by the CPS, as key witnesses withdrew their participation from the case and ‘new material’ came to light.
Prior to his loan exit, reports suggested the United board had provisionally planned for his return and the player expected to represent the club in the current season.
However, when the aforementioned plans were leaked online, United came under fire for how they’d chosen to navigate such a sensitive situation and opted to cut ties.
Antony’s current investigation
As for Antony, he is currently under investigation for domestic abuse. The club had given him a period of absence to travel to his native Brazil and address the allegations, which have been made by three women and strongly denied by the winger, but he has since been welcomed back into the fold and has featured in the past two games.
United have been accused of covering up for Antony and being aware of the accusations before signing him in 2022, though senior figures have rebuffed these claims.
Mail’s report states: “Morale among members of the club’s workforce is said to be very low, with a number of employees now looking to leave.
“Mail Sport has learned employees have started the process of searching for new work, with the disappointment at how the club managed the cases that engulfed two of their star players a lead factor in their decision to seek a United exit.”
