Benfica starlet emerges on radar for Manchester United and rivals

Benfica midfielder Joao Neves is being monitored by a number of European clubs.

The 19-year-old first broke into Benfica’s first team last season and made 17 appearance as they won the Primeira Liga.

Neves has continued his fine form into this season, which has led to a maiden call-up to the Portugal senior team.

According to 90min, Man City are currently leading the race for Neves.

It is also believed United have made regular scouting trips to watch Benfica centre-back Antonio Silva.

Those trips have seemingly resulted in positive reports on Neves, who is also being watched by Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.

The 5ft 9 midfielder was part of Benfica’s U23s win the UEFA Youth League in 2021/22.

We’ll keep our eyes on this one but early reports suggest that City are making headway on a deal for Neves.
