Scott McTominay was this week’s hero as the midfielder came on to rescue his side against Brentford and ending Manchester United’s losing run at Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag’s men looked to be heading for a third consecutive league defeat at the Theatre of Dreams when the London side were one goal to the good when the fourth official signalled for six minutes of additional time.

Halfway into the stoppage time, McTominay, who had only been introduced in the 87th minute, scored the crucial equaliser before heading in the winner in the 97th minute, sending the Old Trafford faithful into a frenzy.

Pure ecstasy ensued in the aftermath and McTominay has now made an interesting admission after the game, claiming his two-goal show could be his new favourite moment on a football pitch.

“That might be one of my favourite moments on a football pitch,” McTominay told PLP, via the BBC.

“Two goals at the death was incredible, but I am just happy to be able to contribute and show people that I can do it.

“Massive. Everyone knows we are in a difficult period at the minute, but we have fighters in the group that want to keep going right until the end. It could have been anyone on that pitch scoring the two goals. Really pleased and hopefully we can build on that from here.

“Sometimes we feel like we are in our own bubble with people outside only saying negative things, but we just have to block that out and be better after the international break.”

United will now head into the international break and hopefully, Ten Hag’s men will be able to improve on their poor form when domestic football returns in two weeks.

United have won four of their opening eight games and that’s not good enough to achieve anything significant in this league and Ten Hag will be desperate to arrest that run of form before it’s too late.
