Antony returns, Hannibal dropped: Predicted Manchester United line-up to face Brentford at Old Trafford

Manchester United host Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday in their return to Premier League action. Kick-off is at 3pm.

Erik ten Hag is still having to navigate numerous injury woes across the squad. There are no new ones to report this week, which may come as a surprise given our luck so far this season, however, Sergio Reguilon is ruled out of the game with a minor issue that’s seen him miss three consecutive matches.

The manager is not one for dropping players in poor form, as we’ve all seen over the past year, so I wouldn’t expect many changes in tomorrow’s line-up despite the back-to-back losses.

It’s clear that several members of the squad are struggling with low confidence, like Andre Onana and Marcus Rashford, so Ten Hag will likely continue playing them until their form and morale picks up.

Predicted starting XI

Onana

Dalot, Varane, Lindelof, Amrabat

Reguilon’s absence means that Sofyan Amrabat is the only option to fill in at left-back. Hopefully, we can see the Moroccan is his natural position soon and he can start to flourish in the midfield.

Casemiro, Mount

Casemiro’s red card in the midweek Champions League tie only applies to European action, so he’ll retain his place against the Bees.

Mason Mount has looked promising in his recent outings since returning from injury and is still awaiting his first goal as a Red.

Antony, Fernandes (C), Rashford

Antony was back in the matchday squad on Tuesday after a three-week absence to deal with domestic assault allegations, which he will continue to be investigated for alongside playing. Jadon Sancho’s expulsion meant that Facundo Pellistri was the only natural right-winger at Ten Hag’s disposal, so the Dutchman will presumably deploy the more experienced option.

Hojlund

Rasmus Hojlund is on the back of his best performance in a red shirt thus far. A brace was impressive enough, but the constant attacking threat that he created with his runs, pace, strength and shooting was superb. There’s so much more to come from the youngster and we can’t wait to see it. Fingers crossed he bags his first Premier League goal tomorrow.
